Preparation for Safety Case Regime Starts now

  • What is Safety Case Regime?
  • Who will be affected?
  • When will it take effective?
  • As an MHI, how should I prepare for it?

Your concern list continues.

Every MHI needs to get ready for safety case regime under WSH(MHI) regulations, which will take effective in Sep 2017.

SafetyCase.SG would like to share some of our perspectives about your above concerns.

Firstly, you are not alone.

There are about 120 MHIs in Singapore and all of them will need to comply to WSH(MHI) regulations. And the regulation body MHD(Major Hazard department) has been  doing its best in order to guide and support all the MHIs. It’s not the MHI, but also MHD who wants to make Safety Case Regime a success for Singapore.

As it’s a novel concept in Singapore, it’s relatively reasonable to state that Safety Case Regime is a big challenge for all stakeholders in Singapore.

Secondly, SafetyCase.SG will stand behind you for free.

SafetyCase.SG has a heart for Singapore’s safer environment. We’ll help organize regulation news, integrate the  regulations requirements and provide our technical perspectives independently for your reference for free. All the contributors are with certain authority or expertise in certain area. We believe in doing the right things in the right timing. To help with Singapore’s MHI Regulations will make our life in 2017 and beyond meaningful.

All you need to do is subscribe to SafetyCase.SG.

Thirdly, there are a lot of safety case consultants available in the market.

QRA, HAZOP, Functional Safety, Explosion protection, Safety Case development,….. Any area you think of, there are professionals/consults available. Only issue is we need to discern their competence. Based on what? Certification? Education? Experience? We’re unable to come out of a short answer, while we can discuss this topic together considering our earlier exposure in safety industry.

Fourthly, capability can be and will be built up.

Training, learning and practice will help build up our capability. It will take our heart, energy, money, time and so on. Years later, Singapore will be full of people with safety case expertise.

Happy New Year! May Singapore be a safer place.
